Zonzo Compagnie is conquering the world with a series of productions about the creative universes of iconic composers. Bach, Miles Davis, Thelonious Monk, Luciano Berio and John Cage have already featured. The English baroque composer Henry Purcell is next in line.

We plunge into Henry Purcell’s world through a miniature version of an old theatre. With Henry watching the show as an airy spirit, a singer opens the doors to the imagination. She whisks you away into dream images or ‘masques’ that Purcell created for the theatre. Shakespeare’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest are never far away, King Arthur joins in and we hear Queen Mary’s music as well, until HUSH sounds out and we fall silent.

An accordionist and lute player make Purcell’s music shine in unique arrangements. Their melodies and chords accompany you along the unfathomable paths of a marvellous composer. A Belgian and Canadian team uses all kinds of multimedia to recreate Henry’s magical universe.
