Three top soloists on one stage? That can only produce fireworks. Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Lisa Batiashvili and Gautier Capuçon not only master their instruments beautifully, but their musical sensibilities are also in tune. Besides piano trios by Haydn and Brahms, the First Piano Trio by Anton Arensky is especially something to look forward to. In a late-Romantic lyric, he asks the trio to go all-out. Gautier Capuçon, in particular, will be able to indulge in a challenging cello part. Arensky wrote the work in memory of Davidoff, one of the most important cellists of his time.
