Beethoven talks - online event

Unfortunately, the fire at the Centre for Fine Arts on January 18 forces us to postpone this event on the 1st February 21.

In his latest film, Wir haben die Schnauze Voll, the artist Jeremy Deller looks at some fundamental Beethoven themes, such as nature, humanity, freedom and democracy. The film, screened as part of the HOTEL BEETHOVEN exhibition, brings together musicians from the Beethoven Orchestra Bonn and a group of schoolchildren taking part in a climate march. “With this film I want to bring Beethoven into today’s world. I present his music as an accompaniment to a political movement and observe how it still touches young people. I immediately realised also that children have to create something in the present that means something to them.”

Jeremy Deller (1966, London) is a British conceptual, video and installation artist. His work is often politically motivated and he likes to involve others in his creative process. In 2004 he won the prestigious Turner Prize.Deller will be talking to composer, musician, radio producer, author, curator and publisher Volker Zander (1968, Fulda, Germany), whose musical and artistic interests range from Kraftwerk to Mauricio Kagel and Beethoven.

Moderated by Eric De Visscher, curator of HOTEL BEETHOVEN.
