Orchestra in Residence

In the frame of the Dutch Presidency of the Council of the European Union

Due to illness Jean-Yves Thibaudet will not be able to play tomorrow. He is replaced by NELSON FREIRE, without any programme change.

The celebrated Amsterdam orchestra returns for the second concert of its residency, this time under the baton of Semyon Bychkov, who – like Valery Gergiev – was taught by the great Ilya Musin. The charismatic French pianist Jean-Yves Thibaudet – a veritable star on the other side of the Atlantic – is the soloist in Beethoven's Fifth Concerto. Richard Strauss's symphonic poem Ein Heldenleben completes this irresistible programme.
