The Portuguese architect Eduardo Souto de Moura is a Pritzker Prize winner, the ‘Nobel prize for Architecture’. He was awarded it in 2011 to crown a career which has spanned more than 35 years; a career which began in the company of the renowned architect Alvaro Siza. In 1980 he set up his own firm and soon earned international praise for his original designs for the football stadium in Braga and the Casa das Artes in Porto. The crematorium building in Kortrijk, Belgium is one of his designs; he also planned the Evere crematorium, in collaboration with the Belgian architectural firm Mathen. This project is still in the pipeline. A+, CIVA, Bozar and the ULB are extending a collective invitation to ESM to give a talk about his work. The ULB is also commencing its academic year with this talk.
