Maher Zain is the latest star of contemporary Islamic music. Born in Tripoli, he grew up in Sweden and later worked in New York as assistant-producer alongside the internationally renowned producer RedOne (Akon, Lady Gaga, Enrique Iglesias, etc.). After abandoning this lucrative career, he decided to make music closer to his European and Arab roots. From Canada to Malaysia and New York, Maher is an inspiration to more than 26 million fans! He mixes world music with R&B-influences, compelling rhythms, devoted lyrics and a rich vocal expression to magnificent effect. On 13 January he will be performing at the Centre for Fine Arts for what is sure to be an unforgettable concert. He will be singing numbers from his long awaited album One (2016).
Before Maher Zain’s performance Harris J, the ‘Muslim Justin Bieber, will be warming up BOZAR’s Grand Hall with his own particular mix of Islamic-inspired pop, R&B and Irish folk. He studied at the BRIT School in London, just like Adele and Jessie J. and was discovered by jury member Maher Zain during the 2013 Awakening Talent Contest. Salam, Harris J’s latest album (Warner Music Indonesia) has just gone platinum.
