As part of the Close-up: DOGMA 95, Bozar invites you to (re)discover a film that embodies the spirit of this Danish movement, conceived to regain the raw power of the image and the intensity of reality, far removed from the artifice of traditional cinema.

Mifune (1999), by Søren Kragh-Jacobsen, tells the story of Kresten, a young married man with a promising career ahead of him, who is forced by the death of his father to return to the isolated farmhouse of his childhood. His ambitions crumble as he has to care for his disabled brother, while dealing with a mysterious cleaning lady.

Søren Kragh-Jacobsen (1947) began his career in Danish television before turning to film. In 1995, he co-founded the DOGMA 95 movement with Lars von Trier, Thomas Vinterberg and Kristian Levring. Four years later, he directedMifune, the third film of the manifesto, which won the Silver Bear at the Berlin Festival in 1999. Since then he has pursued a prolific career and remains a major figure in Danish cinema.
