Described as "the Iranian Bob Dylan" by the New York Times, Mohsen Namjoo is an all-round musician, trained in Teheran but now based in California. Influenced by the sound of the blues and by traditional Iranian music, his songs mix classical Persian poetry with contemporary poetry, supplemented with texts of his own. His unique style is characterised by irony and is not always to be taken at face value; this is true both of his use of words and of his musical compositions. His tour of major European venues to promote his latest album, 13/8, has been a huge success so far. Don't miss its Brussels leg.
