Ana Vaz (1986) is a Brazilian artist and filmmaker. Her films are conceived as much from filmed images as from found images and often mix the poetic grain of film with the brutality of the digital pixel. Combining ethnography with ecology her films offer a different perspective on the issues of our time. Her work immortalizes both the caves of Brazil and the flowers of Japan, making a cinema that knows no borders and thus testifying to an issue that ultimately concerns us all: that of the survival of our ecosystem. Her work has been featured in festivals and institutions such as Tate Modern, Palais de Tokyo, Jeu de Paume, LUX, Toronto International Film Festival, British Film Institute, Cinéma du Réel and Courtisane.
