A favourite work of Hungarian conductor Gergely Madaras, Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem is not a requiem in the liturgical sense of the term, because there are no prayers for the dead. It nonetheless remains a meditation on death based on verses in the Bible. Moreover, this moving funeral ode, with a choir and soloists, cultivates a spirit of calm, affection and love, rarely associated with the genre. As for Jongen’s Symphonie concertante, which secured its author’s worldwide renown, organist László Fassang is just the man for the job. The OPRL invites you to discover this work that also features in his discography - the perfect opportunity to hear the most beautiful registers of the Centre for Fine Arts’ organ.
