Come and experience the incredible phenomenon of “symphonic cinema”, in which symphonic music is combined with the screening of The Firebird (2014), Dutch director Lucas van Woerkum’s first feature-length film. This film has no dialogue and is completely synchronised with the music from Stravinsky’s famous ballet composed in 1909 and 1910. By establishing a permanent interaction between the projected images and the orchestra, and updating the story of The Firebird through contemporary images and characters, the film-maker has accomplished a dual feat.
