Bryce Dessner
In addition to his activities as a guitarist in the band The National, American Bryce Dessner is a composer inspired by minimalism, folk and post-Romanticism. His Trombone Concerto was commissioned by the OPRL, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, the Württemberg Chamber Orchestra of Heilbronn and the Orchestre national d'Île-de-France. Considered the pioneer of modernity in the United States, Charles Ives' Second Symphony (1902) combines themes from the European classical tradition, taken from Wagner, Beethoven and others, with quotations from popular songs from the American continent.
