Palestine, a Song of the Land by Ramzi Aburedwan reflects on place and belonging: on land that is lived on, cultivated and inherited. The celebrated Palestinian composer takes this theme as the starting point for an evening in which traditional music meets both modern and contemporary poetry. Words by prominent Palestinian poets, such as Mahmoud Darwish, Fadwa Touqan and Samih al-Qâsim accompany the music, which, in the hands of the Canaan Orchestra and singers Dalal Abu Amneh and Moneim Adwan, transforms sound and voice into a site of living memory, transmission and togetherness.
