‘Patricia Kopatchinskaja & Fazil Say’

10 Dec.'22
- 20:00

After her triumph last season with Sol Gabetta, Moldavian violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja returns in a duo, this time with the great Turkish pianist Fazil Say. For Say, who dedicated his Violin Concerto to the violinist, playing with Kopatchinskaja is "a true collaboration, a mixture of understanding and spontaneity. The two partners understand each other perfectly and take great pleasure in performing their common favourite, Brahms' Third Sonata for violin and piano, a true monument in the repertoire. For this recital, they also revisit Janáček's Sonata for Violin and Piano (the only one completed), a work rich in expressiveness, and turn their attention to Bartók's First Sonata for Violin and Piano, a piece with an adventurous, almost atonal language, dedicated at the time to the exceptional violinist Jelly d'Arányi.
