‘Pavel Haas Quartet’

7 Nov.'18
- 20:00

The Pavel Haas Quartet, which was founded in 2002, is one of the most exciting Czech string quartets. After receiving the prestigious Borletti-Buitoni Trust Award, the quartet went on to win a series of other international awards, including several Gramophone Awards. The quartet will perform two masterpieces by two of the most famous Czech composers, Antonín Dvořák and Leoš Janáček.  The Pavel Haas Quartet has chosen two declarations of love, one by Dvořák, to his homeland after spending three years in the United States, the other by Janáček, which was dedicated to Kamila Stosslova, the love of his life and his muse. Both men demonstrate the extent of their artistry in these compositions: the former in a very lyrical style while the latter is more tempestuous. This concert celebrates the centenary of Czech and Slovak independence through their music.
