‘Pavel Haas Quartet, Boris Giltburg’

This event can not take place due to the latest restrictions regarding COVID-19.

We welcome once more the best string quartet in the Czech Republic. They have been in demand in the grandest concert halls ever since winning the first prize in the 2005 Concorso Paolo Barcioni. They have assembled a programme devoted to the German grandmaster  Johannes Brahms, who breathed new life into both symphonic and chamber music in the second half or the 19th century. His Piano Quintet builds on the intensity of Beethoven and the pure lyricism of Schubert. At the piano is Boris Giltburg, winner of the 2013 Queen Elisabeth Competition, who the quartet has worked with on several previous occasions. The programme also comprises the masterful String Quartet No. 2, a work with a particularly rousing and energetic sonority. Viola player Pavel Nikl joins the quartet: he knows the Pavel Haas inside out, as he was a regular member until 2016.
