Dichterliebe

An exciting performer of all the great roles in Mozart and the bel canto repertoire which he has performed in theatres all over the world - at La Monnaie he was recently Alfred in Die Fledermaus - the Slovak tenor Pavol Breslik is also a huge fan of concert and recital performances. In collaboration with the pianist Amir Katz, a virtuoso accompanist, he invites us to a programme of romantic outpourings in several languages : the gypsy songs of Dvoøák, intense, lively dances, the three Sonnets of Petrarch, love poems put to music by Liszt, and, on top of that, the emotionally charged song cycleDichterliebe by Schumann based on Heine’s love poems. “Das Lied soll schauern und beben wie der Kuß von ihrem Mund...” (The song should shudder and tremble like the kiss from her lips...). An encounter with a magical artist.
