Rachmaninov Piano Concerto 2 & Shostakovich 10

Formed in the aftermath of the Second World War, the Philharmonia Orchestra embodies the values of freedom-loving artists and boasts one of the richest musical histories of the 20th century. Launched by conductors such as Toscanini and Furtwängler, it quickly established itself among the world's best. For its appearance in Brussels under the baton of the young Finnish conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali, the orchestra presents a spectacular programme in two parts. Sergey Rachmaninov's Piano Concerto No. 2 is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of literature for piano and orchestra. Bruce Liu, the flamboyant winner of the 2021 Chopin Competition, will deliver a highly anticipated version. In the second half, Rouvali treats us to Shostakovich's Symphony No. 10, one of the Russian composer's most famous, composed at the crucial turning point of Stalin's death.
