‘Philip Glass World Premiere - Tana Quartet’

15 + 16
Jan.'22

Bozar will host the world premiere of the String Quartet No. 9 by Philip Glass! This dramatic and extremely moving work has its origins in a score originally composed by the American minimalist composer for a Broadway run of King Lear. For the first time, Glass has turned to a non-American ensemble, the Tana Quartet, to record his new work. As part of the world tour to accompany the release of this recording, the French ensemble invites you to enjoy the multiple moods of Glass’s ninth against a backdrop of spellbinding visual effects. In addition to this novel first, the Tana Quartet will perform Schubert’s highly poignant quartet Death and the Maiden, and Caroline Shaw’s And So, classical material which they will enhance with modern sonorities.

The Tana Quartet's concert on 15 January at 8.30 pm will be broadcast live on Musiq3, and on 16 February 2022 at 8 pm on Klara Live.
