Guy Béranger, public enemy no. 1, has reached the end of his prison term. His transfer to the Abbey of Vielsart on parole causes general turmoil throughout the country, and especially in this small village in the Ardennes. While most of the monks in the abbey take a dim view of the arrival of the ‘monster‘ in their peaceful community, Lucas, a young monk and former psychiatrist, wants to believe in Béranger’s genuine redemption. But when a young girl disappears in the vicinity of the abbey, the entire village of Vielsart is up in arms. Chloé, a young municipal inspector, will be in charge of a sombre and complex investigation in which she discovers the fears and secrets of the entire population of this small village that looks so peaceful. Faced with a crowd ready to take the law into their own hands and a brotherhood prepared to do anything to preserve the reputation of their abbey, Lucas and Chloé will join forces to re-establish order and truth.
