Samuele is 12 years old and lives on an island in the Mediterranean. Just like his friends, he loves to have fun, climb rocks or hang about in the harbour. But the name of this island is Lampedusa, which has become the European destination of men, women and children crossing the Mediterranean in shabby boats to reach Europe. They are in search of peace, freedom or simply good fortune, but all too often it is only their dead bodies that are recovered from the sea. One of the biggest tragedies of our time.
