Ali Thabet & Hèdi Thabet
Rayahzone is a poetic clash between theatre, dance and acrobatics played out to the hypnotic rhythms of spiritually-inspired Muslim music. The Belgian-Tunisian brothers Ali and Hèdi Thabet are on stage. At circus school they soon learnt the tricks of the trade and after all their years of training a successful career beckoned. But fate had other plans. Ali Thabet worked with the Belgian-Moroccan choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Les Ballets C de la B; Hèdi Thabet lost his left leg to bone cancer. But if you think Hèdi was ready to throw it all in, you've got it all wrong. He and his brother joined forces, driven as they were by their love of life and an overwhelming optimism. The result is a dance show that is bubbling with life, moving and mysterious at the same time, as five outstanding musicians play live music together.
