A nocte temporis
The young Belgian tenor Reinoud Van Mechelen is assiduously building up a sparkling career. He had only just graduated in 2012 when he found himself performing on stage alongside the likes of William Christie, Collegium Vocale Gent, Le Poème Harmonique, Il Gardellino, B’Rock, Paul Agnew and Capriccio Stravagante. Long-standing partners in crime include the transverse flute player Anna Besson, the harpsichordist Benjamin Alard and the cello player Ronan Kernoa. Together with them Van Mechelen performs arias by Bach for tenor and flute. “My starting point for compiling this chamber music programme was the interplay between tenor and flute. During my investigation of Johann Sebastian Bach’s cantatas I soon came across one or two treasures for this ensemble”, according to Van Mechelen.
