‘RETHINKING BRUSSELS: RESHAPING THE CITY THROUGH CYCLING’

6 May'21
- 18:30

Online event

Since the health crisis, cycling as a mode of transport has exploded in most of the world's major metropolitan centres. Brussels is no exception to this phenomenon. Cycling trips have increased by 64% in 2020 compared to 2019. During this exceptional evening of conferences and debates, Brussels Academy and BOZAR, together with other experts and associations, will examine the place of this two-hundred-year-old mode of transport in the light of the major contemporary urban issues, such as the climate transition, social justice, the accessibility of urban centres, etc.

With: Bas de Geus (VUB), Tim Cassiers (BRAL), Florine Cuignet (GRACQ) and Marion Berzin (Brussels Academy).

This initiative is part of the ‘Bike Station’, a long term reflection of the Centre for Fine Arts around soft mobility, bike infrastructures, arts and cultural heritage. Supported by Urban.Brussels, it will initiate a series of artistic and discursive initiatives around bikes in 2021.
