Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe et ses filles

Although Alain Corneau's biographical masterpiece Tous les matins du monde, starring Depardieu senior and junior, suggests otherwise, little is known about Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe. Even his actual name is the subject of debate. One thing we know for sure is that Sainte-Colombe regularly gave concerts in the privacy of his own living room, accompanied by his daughters. Two viola da gamba experts, Lucile Boulanger and Myriam Rignol, accompanied by the famous lutenist Rolf Lislevand, bring an extremely refined evocation of this - at the time relatively common - performance practice to the Protestant Chapel, with works by Monsieur de Sainte-Colombe, Louis Couperin and Eustache Du Caurroy, among others.
