Mythique Rumba ft. Trecy La Cayenne
Congolese rumba is a vibrant blend of music and dance, deeply rooted in Congo’s urban culture and transmitted across generations, the diaspora and communities worldwide. Five years after UNESCO recognized the genre as intangible cultural heritage, we present a celebratory tribute to this rich tradition. “Na Lola” – meaning “towards the north” – refers to the rumba’s journey from the Congo to Brussels. On stage are some of the finest rumba musicians from Brussels and Paris, carrying the tradition forward while reinventing it for today. Cultural Ambassador Klay Mahungu, together with the Mythique Rumba orchestra and special guest Trecy La Cayenne, will pay a festive tribute to this rich tradition, full of rhythm, connection and energy.
Join us on 14 December for Bozar’s in-depth talk exploring the history and significance of rumba.
