‘SIGN - Percussion project Beats & Pieces’

18 Jan.'26
- 13:00

Inspired by the percussion concerto RiSE & fLY, by this season’s portrait composer Julia Wolfe, various groups get to grips with body percussion and contemporary composed music in a participative project. The Brussels-based percussion collective Sysmo will coach them through an extensive workshop process based on instant composition. Using a special sign language developed by the Argentinean composer Santiago Vazquez, pieces are improvised spontaneously: the conductor uses different signs to indicate the form and direction of the music.

The participants will give two concerts in Horta Hall focused on improvisation, body percussion and contemporary minimalism. Admission to these concerts is free and no reservation is required.

Partners: Bozar, Colin Currie, Sysmo, Calamé ASBL, Atoute Project ASBL.
