Meet the artist

Pablo Sozyone Gonzales has spent 25 years honing the features, form and rhythm of his hip-hop. Born in Brussels to a humble Spanish family who fled Franco’s dictatorship, Sozyone has always felt free to express what he wanted, when he wanted, how he wanted. When he was 15, he got into tagging and wrote the first lines for what would become the De Puta Madre hip-hop group with his partner Smimooz. A well-known figure in the Belgian scene, his exhibition, One Million Murders, was shown at the Alice Gallery in 2004. Between 2003 and 2013, he developed the idea of “La Voyoucratie” (“Yob-ocracy”) through a series of portraits. Since 2013, Sozyone has been collaborating with Jaba Mathieu on a graphic novel called ENEMIES (Editions Ankama, 2015), before getting his teeth into La Fin Des Temps in 2015, a story about an untroubled universe whose lethargic inhabitants wander aimlessly as they wait for a devastating wave.

Sozyone Gonzales will have a conversation with Aral (DJ and organizer).
