The Afropolitan Festival welcomes Africa in the Picture Festival

Africa in the Picture (AITP) is a festival of independent films in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. It is a platform for the cinema of Africa and the African diaspora. Every year since 1987, it has presented a selection of films from across the world. For their 2020 edition (September 17th > 27th), the Afropolitan Festival and AITP are joining forces.

The new director of AITP, Oumar Mbengue Atakosso, will be accompanied by four young Afro-descendent directors based in the Netherlands: Elisabetta Agyeiwaa, Shamira Raphaëla, Bouba Dola and Kymani Céder. In return, four young Afro-Belgian filmmakers are invited to take part in the project and the AITP Festival in Amsterdam and Rotterdam in September 2020.

The screening of the films will be followed by a debate with the programmer and the directors. The discussion will be moderated by Djia Mambu.
