In the presence of Lav Diaz
Preceded and followed by a conversation between Lav Diaz and Stoffel Debuysere.
The Filipino film director Lav Diaz and his extreme cinematographic approach (with films lasting five to ten hours, a limited number of shots and few camera movements) have divided opinion for quite some time. Yet he is almost unanimously seen as one of today’s most influential directors. In Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan [Norte, the end of history] he takes a closer look at the life of Joaquin, Eliza and Fabian. A tricky undertaking, especially when you realise that one of them has committed a murder.
