Handel in Italy

Handel's brief stay in the papal city in 1707 gave rise to an impressive number of psalms, cantatas and religious motets. Vox Luminis and the Belgian soprano Sophie Junker, the winner of the London Händel Festival Singing Competition in 2010, invite you to follow in the young composer’s footsteps. An ambitious composer, who regarded his trip to Rome as the first stage of his conquest of Italy and its "sacred" genre, the opera.
