Belgian National Orchestra

‘Winter concert - Viva la libertà’

22 Dec.'22

Every year Bozar and the Belgian National Orchestra organize a heartwarming family show. This year, the French artists' collective Les Clés de l'Ecoute, which specializes in performances for young people, is presenting a brand new production based on the music of Mozart.

The thread running through this performance? A bird that gradually regains its freedom! A mime player guides young and old through the concert while video images provide a true visual spectacle.

Young singers perform arias of the bird catcher Papageno, his sweetheart Papagena and the terrifying Queen of the Night - all characters from Mozart's most famous opera The Magic Flute. Also on the program are excerpts from two other masterpieces: Così fan tutti and Don Giovanni. Expect a completely new storyline that will turn all your knowledge about these operas on its head!

Students will be able to:

  • Experience a moment of emotion with their class
  • Learn about orchestral instruments and the music they make
  • Get to know an orchestra in a large concert hall.
