The Belgian poet and essayist Dirk van Bastelaere is often regarded as one of the most important postmodern poets of the Low Countries. His work was strongly influenced by American artists and poets such as Gertrude Stein, David Lynch and John Baldessari.
Commissioned by Bozar, van Bastelaere wrote a new series of poems inspired by the oeuvre of Baldessari, around whom a large-scale retrospective is taking place this autumn. This series of poems was published at the opening of the exhibition on 19 September, in a trilingual edition (NL-FR-ENG) by het balanseer.
