Performances
- Lia Haraki & Panos Malactos | 26 Mar' 2026 (Bozar all over the P(a)lace)
This creation, part of Bozar all over the P(a)lace in March, brings together two major artists from the contemporary Cypriot scene. The exhibition Bellezza e brutezza provides a context for artists Lia Haraki and Panos Malactos to present performances adapted for Bozar. In a performance conceived as a guided collective meditation, Haraki explores the mature female body through personal experiences and those of sacred women. By adapting his solo Sadboi for Bozar, Malactos confronts the audience’s gaze in a roaming performance, where body culture collides with the virtual world of social media and the internet.
- Alexandra Waierstall & Elena Antoniou | 13 Apr' 2026
Bozar presents an evening uniting two choreographic productions that echo two major exhibitions on the theme of beauty: Seconds in Clouds by Alexandra Waierstall and LANDSCAPE by Elena Antoniou.
In the first, Waierstall offers a refined and structured movement vocabulary, in dialogue with the sculpture Arena Seating by visual artist Rita McBride. This performance explores the relationship between body and space, inviting the audience to dream their surroundings.
In her solo LANDSCAPE, Elena Antoniou presents the body as a collective landscape. She skillfully challenges the spectator’s gaze by overexposing the female body and pushing the limits of the performance. Antoniou creates a space where the political body appears deeply traumatised yet also sexually uninhibited.
Both performances explore the concept of beauty in their own way, moving away from conventional forms - sometimes as a speculation of imagination, sometimes as an emancipatory and political force. An evening that spans Bozar, from the Horta Hall to the Terarken Room, as part of Cyprus’ Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
Concert
- Monsieur Doumani | 11 Apr' 2026
Behind the somewhat conservative-sounding name Monsieur Doumani lies an innovative Cypriot trio that fuses folk and avant-garde music. With Antonis Antoniou on six-string tzouras, Demetris Yiasemides on various wind instruments, and Andys Skordis on guitar and electronics, the trio is equally at home at WOMEX, the Sziget Festival, and ESNS.
Their fourth album, Pissourin, released on the German label Glitterbeat Records, marked their major breakthrough and pushed them in a more psychedelic direction. Pissourin, meaning total darkness in the Cypriot dialect, is a portrait of the night, a quest for life’s meaning, a return to childhood: innocence, authenticity, honesty. With only three instruments supported by a loop station and electronic devices, Monsieur Doumani unleashes a tsunami of surreal sounds. Simply “stunning,” as the Financial Times put it.
Virtual Reality
- Lost Spaces | 26 Mar – 19 Apr' 2026
Lost Spaces offers an immersive virtual reality experience in the buffer zone of Nicosia. The capital of Cyprus and the last divided city in Europe, Nicosia has been split since 1974 by a demilitarised zone under UN control, dividing its historic centre and leaving behind abandoned homes and businesses.
This creation provides a unique perspective on three emblematic sites within this forbidden zone, through the memories of those who lived there. A sensitive and immersive exploration of a city profoundly marked by division and the passage of time.
