Meet Alice Pamart, Young Ambassador for cinema at Bozar

Hello everyone! My name is Alice, a film production student and a proud Young Ambassador for cinema at Bozar. For me, being a Young Ambassador means breaking the mold, saying: "I have things to share, things to express". This position at Bozar is the perfect place for that.

Cinema, for me, is much more than a visual experience, much more than mere entertainment. It's a powerful means of communication, of sharing. Going to the cinema means immersing yourself in someone else's skin, understanding different perspectives, and thus fostering mutual understanding. At the same time, everyone can take from it what they want, cinema can bring all sorts of people together.

Among the films that currently define me, the last one I saw and that made an impression on me is Poor Things by Yorgos Lanthimos. It stands out for its boldness and impact on the view of life, expanding the realm of possibilities while reflecting on women's place in the world. Birdie by Alan Parker strangely describes me well, with its theme of introspection. In fact, I found myself in its character who thinks he is a bird. I would also like to have wings and be able to fly.

Mister Nobody by Jaco Van Dormaal deeply moved me by exploring choices and their consequences. Never Look Away, a German film by Henckel von Donnersmarck, is one of those works that inexplicably touch the soul. In one way or another, these works physically activate something in you, and that's where the magic happens.

Finally, I look forward to (re)seeing the works of Chantal Akerman at Bozar. Her film Jeanne Dielman is extremely slow and some might find it boring. At Bozar, I saw a small exhibition where there were lots of screens. They were playing excerpts from many of her films at the same time, and you are always in a phase of observation, of people passing by. And since I am someone who loves to spend time observing people as well, and even imagining their lives, I really like her cinema. And then she is also Belgian: long live Belgian culture!

In a year, I want to remember this experience as an adventure where we, young ambassadors, gave our all to broaden artistic horizons and bring as many young people as possible closer to art in all its forms.

To the next generation of Young Ambassadors: don't be afraid to explore the unknown, step out of your comfort zone, that's where the best life experiences are. Chase your passions, share your ideas, because the future can be extraordinary!
