Beautifood

2025-2026

Food, its accessibility, and its impact

Beautifood aims to spark curiosity and raise awareness about food, access to it, and its impact. In a world where food systems have a major influence on our environment, our climate, and our public health, it is essential to rethink the way we produce, consume, and share food—especially in a major city like Brussels.
Change begins with engagement, which is why we invite citizens to explore these issues together. Through artistic expression, playful learning, and collective experiences, Beautifood hopes to inspire dialogues about sustainability, equality, and social justice, paving the way for a fairer food system for everyone.

Until May 2026, Bozar and Cultureghem are organizing a series of creative workshops and performances that combine imagination, reflection, and education. The public is warmly invited to participate in collaborative artistic sessions or playful educational games such as the Game of the Goose about food aid, which highlights the issue of food insecurity. These workshops encourage collective solutions to the problem of food waste and empower citizens to take action in their own communities.

Performances have also added a cultural and sensory dimension to these exchanges. Feijoadas, a gastronomic dance performance by Calito Nexto inspired by a traditional Brazilian dish made from leftovers, brings together music, food, and people in a celebration of community spirit and resilience. In addition, Aubergine followed soprano Claron McFadden on a poetic journey that explores the shared roots of cultures through the history of the eggplant (October 2025).

On February 12, 2026, the final session of a series of creative workshops led by artist and scenographer Ditte Van Brempt took place, organized in collaboration with Cultureghem. This community exchange was part of a collaborative art project aimed at creating an installation over the course of three workshops, which will subsequently be exhibited at Cultureghem in Anderlecht, at Bozar, and at other public venues. The event also featured the preparation of a meal using unsold produce from the market, which was then shared with all participants.

Beautifood will conclude on May 12 at Bozar, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the association for the right to food, FIAN Belgium. Bringing together civil society and representatives from the political world, this gathering focused on food issues will highlight the voices and petitions of those fighting for a future in which communities regain control over what is on their plates, with particular attention to health, the environment, biodiversity, the climate, culture, and equality.
