Food, its accessibility, and its impact
Beautifood aims to awaken curiosity and raise awareness about food, its accessibility, and its impact. In a world where food systems have a profound effect on our environment, climate, and public health, it is crucial to rethink how we produce, consume, and share food – especially in a metropolis like Brussels.
As change begins with engagement, we invite citizens to explore these questions together. Through artistic expressions, playful learning, and collective experiences, Beautifood seeks to inspire dialogue about sustainability, fairness, and social justice, paving the way for a fairer food system for all.
Until February 2026, Bozar and Cultureghem will host a series of engaging workshops and imaginative performances that merge creativity, education, and reflection. The audience is warmly invited to take part in collaborative art sessions, creating parade artworks that transform public spaces, or engage in playful educational games such as Game of the Goose on Food Aid, which sheds light on issues of food insecurity. These workshops encourage community-driven solutions to food waste and empower citizens to take action within their own communities.
Performances will also bring a cultural and sensory dimension to these discussions. Feijoadas, a gastronomic and dance performance by Calito Nexto, inspired by a traditional Brazilian dish made from leftovers, unites music, food, and people in a celebration of collectivity and resilience. Meanwhile, Aubergine follows soprano Claron McFadden on a poetic journey exploring the shared roots of diverse cultures through the story of the aubergine.
Join us at the Abattoir of Anderlecht, at Bozar, and in public spaces across Brussels. A full list of activities can be found at the bottom of this page.
