‘Chineke! Orchestra & Leslie Suganandarajah’

19 Nov.'22
- 20:00

With its Chineke! - the name of a spirit of creation in the Igbo language of Nigeria - Chi-chi Nwanoku founded a professional orchestra with only black musicians or musicians belonging to an ethnic minority. In their concerts, Chineke! combines genres. Always repertoire works, but also compositions by black composers. For example, this colourful concert will feature compositions by Afro-composers, such as Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, George Walker and Florence Price alongside Antonín Dvořák's Ninth Symphony.

A meeting with Chi Chi Nwanoku, founder of the orchestra, will take place between 19:15 and 19:40 in Terarken Hall 2. She will talk about her inspiring journey to founding Chineke.

This session will be in English and moderated by Camille De Rijck. Admission is free.
