Maya Levy: Prix Caecilia

14 Sept.'25
- 11:00

Concert Croissant #01

The young Belgian violinist Maya Levy is well on her way to building a career. American Record Guide was full of praise for her “mysterious and enchanting charisma,” and the music magazine The Strad congratulated her for “her exciting imagination and freshness”. In turn, the BBC Magazine declared her a ‘Rising Star’. The winner of the Caecilia Award for Young Belgian Musician of the Year 2023 will treat us at Bozar to Karol Szymanowski’s Sonata, the work with which she put herself on the map at the 2018 Szymanowski competition. With the French Japanese pianist Marina Saiki, she will also pay tribute to Maurice Ravel, who was born 150 years ago. On the programme are his First Sonata for Violin and Piano, which was only published after his death, and his highly feverish Tzigane.
