Oliveros. Earth Ears

18 Jan.'26

A Deep Listening experience

The life of the American composer, accordionist and performer Pauline Oliveros was devoted to an exploration of sound. The text score Earth Ears reflects Oliveros’ dedication to an extremely intense listening practice – listening in the widest sense of the word, so that the musicians do not only listen to each other, but also to the surrounding space and to an inner dimension that approaches meditation. In this performance, arranged by an ensemble of fifteen percussionists, the piece unfurls in five separate parts. Percussionists Alexandre Babel and Tom De Cock tackle this exceptional exploration of sound with conservatory students.

The concert is preceded by a conversation with Klaas Coulembier that takes place at 16:45 pm in the Horta Hall. This encounter will be in French and in Dutch. Free admission.
