1989. In the deprived suburbs of Paris, a group of friends found a means of expression thanks to the hip-hop movement that had just arrived in France. After dancing and graffiti, JoeyStarr and Kool Shen began writing rap lyrics steeped in the anger that was brewing in the suburbs. Their rhythms and rebellious lyrics soon galvanised the crowds and ... clashed with the authorities. Suprême NTM was born and with it French rap made a smashing debut!

Audrey Estrougo grew up between Paris and the Parisian inner cities. The world of the hood, but from a female perspective, was the subject of her first film Regarde moi, released in 2008. She was only 23 years old at the time.
Although she was very young and had no film training, Audrey was offered a major challenge: directing a musical. Toi, moi, les autres was released in 2011. Since then, Audrey has been fighting for the existence of a rare and dedicated cinema. In 2013, she directed, without any financial help, Une histoire banale, a film about the aftermath of rape. La Taularde, a behind closed doors film set in a female prison environment and starring Sophie Marceau, written after two years of immersion in a prison, was released on 14 September 2016. At the same time, Audrey shot her first TV series for Arte with Romane Bohringer: Héroïnes, a social comedy with an English-touch in 3 episodes, broadcasted in February 2017.
Soon to be released A la folie, her sixth feature film.

This screening is a co-production with Sony, with the participation of Underdog Production.
