Béla Bartók was one of the first to go out into the countryside and make recordings of local musicians, later turning the music into idiosyncratic works of his own. At the Bartók Festival, you will hear traditional folk music alongside masterpieces such as the Second Violin Concerto and the Romanian Dances, as well as a dance production based on Bartók’s colourful Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion.
