Milena Dopitová (°1963) is a Czech established artist who entered the art scene at the start of the 1990s. Her art centres human intimacy and emotionality whilst addressing social themes of physical, and gender identity. Taking the everyday life as her starting point, her practice includes installations, objects, videos, and photographs. For her, art is communication, a mission, a message, and an appeal for responsibility.
In her new work, conceived for Bozar, Dopitová focusses on solidarity – across cultural differences and nationalities – as the principal concept of Europe. A sense of solidarity and unity is something that we must continually strive for. It is a daily task not only for society as a whole, but for each individual that shapes it.
Milena Dopitová: Even Odd is organized by National Gallery in Prague in collaboration with the Centre for Fine Arts Brussels on the occasion of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
