To mark the 30th anniversary of Frank Zappa's death, Bozar is presenting a two-day programme of talks, concerts, a small exposition and films about the eccentric rock musician and his unique personality.

Zappa was much more than a genius composer or a virtuoso musician. He was also a trailblazer or avant-gardist, a stubborn and self-made man who, very early in his career, began to defend his financial interests independently. All these facets make Zappa a unique personality and a legend who continues to inspire today.

Bozar also cherishes a special bond with Zappa: in 1970, he gave a concert with The Mothers of Invention (new line-up) at the Centre for Fine Arts. The famous music photographer Herman Selleslags immortalised that evening in a number of legendary shots. You can go admire his photos alongside those of concert photographer Jean-Luc Tanghe at a small exhibition in our Fumoirs. "Without deviation, there is no progress", Zappa once declared. On December 2 and 3, Bozar will definitely be in "full deviation mode".
