S+T+ARTS = Science, Technology and the Arts

Did you know that Bozar has been a regional centre of the prestigious international STARTS network since 2019? The pilot project is consistent with the purpose of Bozar Lab: to make the Centre for Fine Arts a trailblazer for innovation in the arts and to foster synergies between art, science and technology.

In 2015, the European Commission launched its STARTS project – Science+Technology+Arts – as part of its ambitious Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme. Bozar was particularly drawn to this initiative, which aims to create singular synergies between science, technology and the arts.

As a regional STARTS centre, Bozar organizes a series of STARTS-themed events (STARTS Prize, STARTS Talks, STARTS Residencies), involving key partners from its network and region. These events aim to bring together audiences and representatives from different fields (art, design, technology, industry, academia) in order to examine the fundamental issues that society is currently facing.
